The Museum of Ancient Eleutherna – Homer in Crete
Description:
Located in the southern wing of the archaeological site, this museum is the first of its kind in Crete. It showcases findings from over 30 years of excavations in Eleutherna. The museum periodically updates its permanent exhibition with new discoveries, keeping the public engaged with ongoing research.
The museum features both original and modern audiovisual exhibits, and its development was supported by the University of Crete, the Ministry of Culture and Sport, and private initiatives, including the Mediterranean Archaeological Society.
Kourtaliotiko Gorge
Description:
The trail runs parallel to and above the Gorge “Kourtaliotiko” during its second half. It is easy for anyone to cross and navigate (a relatively good physical condition is always recommended), and the duration is approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes. The trail ends at the famous Preveli Beach, home to the renowned Palm Forest and the estuary of the Kourtaliotis River. After a break at the beach, participants will head to the eastern parking area of the region for pick-up and return. The hike to the parking area takes about 20 minutes.
Distillery 35N
Description:
The 35N Tsikoudia is produced in Rethymno, at the distillery established by Ilias Melissourgos. It follows the method of fractional batch distillation, utilizing the finest grape varieties for an exceptional result.
A guided tour of the distillery is offered in English, giving visitors the opportunity to enjoy a unique tasting experience. During the tasting, participants sample five different award-winning versions of Tsikoudia, paired with exquisite traditional Cretan delicacies that enhance the flavor and character of the spirit.
